Growing Your Passion

I'm off to Hong Kong next week to run a live Basic Quantum-Touch workshop, a Enhance Your Chakras workshop as well as see clients for private sessions. My first workshop was in Dec last year and I had a thoroughly great time .

A question that people asked me is "how do you advertise for your workshop? where do your clients come from?"

Those are good questions. Those are amazing questions because the answers to those always fill me with a deep sense of awe and wonder. The only mode of "advertising" that I do at the moment is an email flyer to friends and past participants, information on the Quantum-Touch website and this blog. And then, I meditate and send out intentions to the universe. My intention is for abundance, love, joy and peace. My intention is that whoever that needs a catalyst of transformation for their lives will find me. Then I allow and wait.

That's when it happens. Unexpected emails from people, connection through friends and unexpected help for example, recently, a very nice lady from Hong Kong emailed me to offer me a free listing on their website The Source Asia for my workshops in Hong Kong.

For me to run workshops in another country, it is only possible if I have friends in those places who generously offer their help to source for venues etc. Scotland was possible because of my dear friend Marilyn. Likewise, Hong Kong is possible because of my dear friend May. I am grateful to them.

At the moment, I am growing my passion at a comfortable and stable pace to steadily establish my reputation for providing beneficial, professional and effective service. I am growing it at a balanced pace because I love having the time and space for self-development, personal being time and to pursue other interests. When it is time to grow it faster, I would have a firm foundation to take it to greater heights.

Healer. Human.

There seems to be an awkwardness on our part whenever we feel unwell or when we experience our own healing crisis. It almost feels like we're embarassed to be be humanly unwell. Yet at the end of the day, we are human so we do get unwell or go through healing crisis. It's what we do with ourselves when we do get the occasional bug or healing crisis that differentiates between a wise energy worker and a energy worker.

A wise energy worker will take the time to rest and recharge. To seek help from other therapists. To allow the body to rest. And to see a doctor when needed. Doctors are here for a reason.

A wise energy worker will take responsibility to review the feelings, insights, emotions etc that surface through the healing crisis and move forward, not wallow in it.

A wise energy worker knows that by taking care of onself, one can continue the good work of helping others for a much longer period of time.

Protecting Clients' Confidentiality

As a therapist, it is important to keep your clients' confidentiality. I utterly dislike it when therapists gossiped about their clients. That is (1) extremely non professional and (2) it is a negative energy exchange. I only share case stories for example, there is a person who was this or that, and when you use this technique you will be able to etc etc in my classes. No names, no nationality and often, gender also not mentioned.

As you know, one of my specialisation is Chakra Scan and Energetic Enhancement. This is where it is even more important for me to protect my client's confidentiality and privacy because I SEE really deep at times. When I first started out being aware of this gift, I didn't know what it was and so had an experiential stage where I did it with friends so as to obtain feedback. Even then, it was only with friends who I know holds the same value of "confidentiality" as me. When I grew confident that it was truly a gift, the feedback was now only needed directly from clients.

My pool of clients, both in Singapore and overseas, are growing because (1) I am very good at what I do and (2) they know I protect their need for confidentiality and privacy. Some of them may start off being surprised that I will not "scan" another person and tell them about that person eg a wife asking me to scan her hubby. I would decline the engagement and they can look elsewhere. More often than not, they grow to respect my choice and decision cos' they know when they are my clients, I will protect their privacy too. In fact, many couples or friends do not even know that each party is my client.

The only time when I will not protect the client confidentiality is if there is a threat to the person's life. As you know, another of my specialty areas is emotional relief. If I scan and I SEE suicidal tendencies, I will let the client know that I am aware and how we should proceed with this. For example, yesterday when working with a client, I SAW that the person on several occasions contemplated suicide. I checked with the client who confessed that yes, it is true. I gave the client two choices, either (1) give me a promise that it will not happen and/or (2) that I am allowed to speak with the client's family members to alert them cos' it would never have crossed their minds that the client was feeling so. The client accepted both choices.

Be unto others how you would love them to be unto you. And be. No excuses. No victim mindset. No waiting for them to be first. You just be.

To Charge Or Not To Charge

A dilemma commonly faced by practitioners and therapists is with regards to charging for our services. People often have the misconception or non useful belief that it is not right to charge for energy work. It is meant to help and so, how can we charge?

I used to feel awkward and was in a dilemma as well. As I shared previously, I find it very difficult to charge people for my sessions especially friends. It was only in
August this year that I've shifted in my beliefs and thoughts on this. And I am very glad that I did cos' then I am a very congruent instructor and coach to my participants who may also be interested to do QT full time.

Attend a workshop by David Ashworth during my recent hols to UK. I love the way he sums up on this issue of money and energy work:

Healing is free, it is of the Universe. People are paying not for the healing but for the healer/ therapist's time.

That is so true. As therapists, practitioners and/or instructor, we have spent money and time to learn and upgrade ourselves on the energy modalities. And often, most of us have broaden our scope of skills with other related courses that would be useful for our clients. At the same time, we are also spending our time when we do a session for someone.

As such, if you are doing this to earn an income, then it is only right to accept a fee for your services and time. It is not being money minded. It is about a fair exchange between you and your client. You'll be surprised at how obligated or uncomfortable people might feel when you offer your services for free as I've discovered. In fact, they often feel better when you decide to charge because then they can freely ask you for more sessions if need be. I learnt this the hard way. So learn from me and start abundantly charging for your time and effort! Trust me, your clients/ friends will appreciate it!

Complementary Therapy

I often remind participants at my workshops and clients that Quantum-Touch is a complementary and not an alternative therapy. People need not make a choice between QT or a western doctor, QT or another energy therapy, QT or a chinese doctor etc.

It is complementary which means simply, use QT together with whatever else that can help.

We live in an age where there are countless therapies, remedies and advice that we can sought to have a wholistic healing. Doctors are not to be feared, they are important for us to get a diagnosis. It's the medication that we've got to educate ourselves more on and see if alternatives can be found for example, my British friend Beryl is an expert with natural herbs and if I need 'medication' or supplement, she'll be the one I would check with.

If a client comes to me with say bleeding in the stools, the first thing I would ask is "have you seen a doctor?" If he or she has not, I would not see him/ her either till a visit to the doctor is done. With a diagnosis, then a world of opportunities arises for treatments and remedies.

The same is also true on the other spectrum. There are some people who would just opt for western medicine and not even consider any form of natural energy therapy to complement it. I respect their model of the world, theirs is probably a medical framework. Yet at the same time, I feel it's silly because natural energy therapy can complement and accelerate the healing process.

So the next question I often get is "Does it mean then that you can cure my wife of cancer?" I would answer that I cannot cure because your wife is the healer not I. What I can do is to be a catalyst for the healing process through my QT sessions plus my affirmative work together with whatever medical treatments that she is getting. We cannot determine the outcome ie whether the person live or not (we are not the creator) but we can give the person our highest and most loving vibrations so that she can tap on our strength to boost her own. That's a good chance as any to triumph isn't it?

And at times, miracles do happen. There's a 12-year old boy in Hong Kong who was diagnosed with luekemia. I was asked to distance him and I believe there were other energy workers working on him as well. He was undergoing chemo sessions. Within weeks of me knowing about him, we received the news that he's found a bone marrow transplant donor which is excellent news. That was the intention that we sent out to the Universe. Next, we focus on building up his strength so that he can undergo the operation. Throughout the whole process, I was told that he remained extremely positive and upbeat in spite of the pain that he must be going through. In the week that I left for this month long holiday, he was strong enough to go for the operation. I hear that he is recovering well and I am very excited to met him when I am in Hong Kong in December to conduct a QT workshop. I've invited him to attend it! The doctors shared that it is a miracle that he is even alive to go through the operation. Here is a wonderful testament to how doctors plus energy work can give a person a more than 100% chance to triump. Complementary all the way, extra booster and more often than not, accelerate the healing process.

My experience and the sharing of many others have also shown that even if the outcome is that the person does pass on to another beginning, because of the QT sessions, they often feel no pain even in the final stages of say, cancer. There was a man who was diagnosed with liver cancer who till the final weeks before his passing, was happily volunteering his time to give QT sessions as well as driving himself around. How's that for quality living in spite of condition?

That's the reason why I love QT and often will speak of it with anyone. And if I know of anyone who is unwell or has someone who is unwell, I will share with them about QT as well in a gentle manner. It is my responsibility to share but not to force or push. Often, I will share briefly and then invite them to read my blog or QT website if they are interested. I respect the fact that I know and thousands all over the world know how effective QT is. But they do not yet know. The invitation is for them to accept if they choose to.

Increase Your Sensory Acuity

In a general way sensory acuity means how good your senses are at doing what they should do. In the context of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), it refers to the ability to use our senses to make accurate observations about ourselves or other people.

NLP recommends looking at eye movements, changes in skin colour and breathing, and postures in order to get information about what is happening to other people.

Over the years, I've spent considerable time improving and further enhancing my sensory acuity so that I can be better at what I do, be it as a coach, a mentor, a trainer, a therapist, a lecturer and in my day-to-day interactions with the people around me. My friends, students, clients and acquaintances often comment that they love talking to me, love attending my workshops or enjoy my sessions because I often know what they're thinking and feeling! Errr... I'm not God so I can't read minds in the pure sense of the term. But I believe that I appear that way because of my sensory acuity ability as well as in recent times, trusting in my intuitive abilities.

To start improving your sensory acuity, one way is to start listening more, observing more and talking less! That's why we have two ears, two eyes BUT one mouth - use it in the right order! LOL.

Another way is to consciously be observant as you go through your day. Did you see that lady with the red umbrella smiling at the little girl or were you too busy grumbling about the weather? Did you notice that beautiful rainbow spanning across the sky or were you too busy thinking about that client that is stressing you out? Did you notice the sudden relaxation of your client's muscles or wer you too busy worrying about the effect of your QTing?

The other morning, I was dreamily happily walking to my boss' home when I saw this sight. So nicely framed that I had to stop, admire and then take a pic.

Then I continued walking but on an impulse, decided to glance back and I saw this sight. Same tree, different perspective. Awesome isn't it?

Stay Humorous and Light-hearted

Sometimes when I am doing QT session for a client/ friend, unexpected reactions or situations pop up. In such moments, it is useful to keep your sense of humour and stay light hearted.

Let me share an example of a recent experience which could have turned embarassing but didn't.

I was having drinks with a friend when he shared that he often has severe back aches and in fact was feeling lousy then. Naturally, I offered to QT him there and then. I asked him to stand in front of me facing the table while I QT his back. I was on a high stool so very comfortable and convenient position (remember, as therapists our positions must be comfortable too!! Please do not forget this important point!!!).

He's new to QT and so I was explaining to him how it works etc. After QTing him for about 10 mins, he went "oops". I was concerned and immediately checked if he's ok. He says he's feeling a funny sensation, he was (the alcohol must have given him courage or loosen his tongue. LOL) having an erection.

Now, what would your reaction be? You can choose to go "phweeeh", "oh", "be embarassed" or...

For me, felt neither of those emotions cos' an erection is a normal bodily occurrence. Besides, I know he wasn't trying to be funny, neither did he mean it in a lewd way. So I smiled and continued to QT him. When he saw that I was totally comfortable, he smiled and let it be as well. No awkwardness at all.

Having said that, please dear ladies, when you are QTing a man and a complete stranger at that, do create a safe environment for yourself. If I am at his home, I always ensure that another family member is around and I leave the "treatment room's" door open. Or do it at the TV area.If you are a male therapist, I am sure you know this also applies to you too!

Charging for Your Sessions

When I first started seeing clients, I always had a tussle within myself where payment is concerned. More often than not, I often waive the fees especially if they are friends or if it's their first QT experience. I feel bad charging.

Then some close friends gave me a different perspective on this whole payment issue.
  • There has to be a exchange between you and your client.
  • You are offering a service that benefits them.
  • You have spent money to learn the various modules.
  • When no monetary value is placed on a session, people subsconsciously already "devalue" the session in their minds.
  • The payment is in exchange for your service and time.
  • By not accepting payment, some will feel bad asking for further sessions.

Totally true as I've discovered and experienced. I still QT close friends and loved ones for free cos' that's an expression of my love for them. At the same time, I now joyously accept the abundance from my paying clients.

Your Belief = Their Growing Trust

I've often been asked by QT "newbies" as to the best way to convince someone about how wonderful and good QT is. My reply is always that we can't!!! There's no way to convince someone BUT we can share with someone on the richness and goodness. The convincing part will be their own journey and experience. Some will accept it sooner than others and some won't. That's perfectly ok.

One of my best experiences was when a friend called me up and asked me to QT his children cos' they were ill. Coming from a skeptic, that was an awesome experience for me!! Guess he has seen it working in my life, my belief that it works and his trust in it grew as well. So much so that he even believe that distance works too!!! Wow isn't it?

You just have to continue to do what you do, practice it and weave it into your everyday life. No necessity to argue, fight or insist. Gentle. Gentle. Gentle.

enJOY!!!

Follow and trust in your intuition and abilities

When I first started in this energy work, as with everything new, it took me a while to follow and trust in my intuition. I was more “methodological” about the whole process ie, following strictly to the step by step of what I should do. (Note: the word “should” always imply someone else’s input/ idea and not yours). Of course, as newbie, it is good to practice what has been taught. At the same time, be open to letting go and start to follow your intuition and go with the flow.

As I grew more confident, and started to trust in my feel and intuition, the results for my clients significantly improved. Here are two stories that I would like to share to inspire you to start trusting in your intuition and abilities!

Case 1: My First Paying Client
M was my first paying client and I did a session for her in Feb last year. She’s from Scotland and had found me on the QT website. Since she was in Singapore for a holiday, she wanted to have a QT session as well. Being my first “professional” client, I was naturally a little stressed. Imagine how that level increased when upon arriving, I found out that she’s in perfect health (Oh no, how is she going to experience the difference or rate any pain difference!!!!), is a trained in NLP, Hypnosis etc and has friends in the healing modality!!! Of course, outwardly I was calm and confident (heehee, I am a professional trainer after all) and inwardly I was all nerves and highly stressed. The comfort I received was the fact that she exudes utter joy and radiance so I know that she’s nice. Won’t be a nasty client! Since she is in perfect health, we decided to work on her bunion (stressed!!! My first time working on a bunion!!!) and her jaw which she felt was misaligned. As I got into the breathing and allowing space, my stress melted away and I started to enjoy myself regardless of the outcome.

Now, M and I have become good friends. Early this year, when she was in town, I did another session for her for general well being. After the session, she commented that my "flow" is even better than before. I believe it's because I've added Supercharge to my toolbox. At the same time, it also the fact that I am now totally in the blissful joyous flow each time when I'm in a session and depending on the need that I "sense", I will switch to different techniques at different parts of the session - matching the client's body's intelligence of what's more suited at that stage.

Case 2: My Therapist
My massage therapist (who's also in this healing modality) asked me for a session. As with most of us, we often spend a lot of time on others but not on ourselves. So she and I decide to do an energy exchange. I'll give her a therapy session while she gave me a lympathatic massage.

She shared that she was feeling some tension on her lower back and hip area. I shared that I'll work on that as well as her back. And then, I will just go with the flow and follow my intuition as I sense her body's flow and needs.

My experience: I started off with Supercharge and sent her the 12 colours. Next I used Core; steam release for her hips, legs followed by wombing+ leveraging open a joint. Then I started on her vertebrae and shoulders using steam release plus wombing + tractor beam. As I started on her neck, I switched to wombing + "poking" (here, it was only the top and bottom that needed work). When that was done, I started to work on her jaw (felt prompt to spend quite a bit of time here), cheek, eyes and top of head using wombing + tractor beam. When that was done, I switched to reconnective and had a enjoyable working on her whole body. Was initially thinking of ending the session by asking her to do the pouring forward from Core but instead, I ended with putting her into a deeper relaxing trance and "embed" powerful positive resources for her. The words and thoughts just flowed, with a strong focus on "putting the past to past. enjoying the now now." (Dunno where that came from but I've learnt to just trust my "voice").

Client's experience: Upon "waking" she shared she felt lighter and very good. Her hip/ back tension was gone. Throughout the session, she felt like she was in a nice jelly-like bubble. Then she shared that she felt movements in her back, neck (here she confirmed that it was only the top and bottom part that has tension!) and that she felt her her jaw going back to alignment. Apparently, it was out of alignment after her recent tooth extraction which she forgot to share with me!! Then, she started to "dream" of being in outer space, very relaxed and blissful state (reconnection does that at times!!!!) and towards the end of the session, she found herself in a very ultra relaxed state. She was also reminded of a "promise" that she made to herself that she will not live and wallow in the past. Instead, to enjoy the now and future.

To-date, this is my most interesting session. It affirms me to further trust and follow my intuition and go with the flow. That night, I received an sms from her: "My dear, thanks alot for the wonderful session and am grateful. Feeling much lighter on my back. My jaw was out of aligment (left) after my tooth extraction. Now it's ok. Great!"

It is I who am grateful to her for giving me the opportunity to learn and be of help. She is the healer not I.

Blending Healing Modalities

I believe in the richness of life and all its possibilities, that there is so much yet to be discovered and learnt – we are always an ongoing student of LIFE! Naturally, this extends to the way I absorb information and at the same time, influences the way I design and develop my training programmes for coporate clients (a blend of all the different styles/ methodology from NLP to Accelerated Learning to Quantum-Touch to Service Learning) and now, it richly enhances my therapy session for clients (from QT, Supercharge, Core Transformation, Coaching, Reconnective to NLP).

That’s the reason why I am turn off by trainers, companies, authors or founders who insist that their way is the only way! Such arrogance, such narrow-mindedness! Instead I find myself highly attracted to people and programmes that have an abundant mentality at its core!! Quantum-Touch definitely has an abundant mentality and it’s the reason why I decided to be certified as an instructor!!

Everybody is unique and it also means that everybody’s model of the world is different. I believe in blending and combining all that I’ve learnt and use it at a space and time that works best for each client. One tool may be more suitable to match the client’s preference for example, Quantum-Touch as a healing modality is easily accepted by a lot of people. And at other times, you can use a blend of different tools when the client is more open to the idea. It also means the confidence to trust in your own skills, intuition and abilities!!!

Flexibility, that’s the key.
Follow and trust your intuition, that’s the personal mantra.
