You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives. ~Clay P. Bedford

A Thankful Heart
![]() |
She is going through probably the fiercest hardest storm to-date. She's been bruised and battered by the hard winds and shivered for countless nights. But through it all, she's found refuge and sanctuary and, an inner strength and resilience. Above all, she has been able (with great determination and discipline) to maintain a strong sense of calm. Releasing of hatred and anger is the goal she is working towards.
It is not easy being my client because at the onset of our journey together, I tell them that my role is not to sugar coat nor am I in a popularity contest. My role is to be a catalyst in the transformational journey and that means facing hard truths at times. It also means accepting and taking action on recommendations even if it is something that throws them out of their comfort zone. Or something that is painful for them to do. For those with perseverance and willingness to do what it takes, there is always positive changes.
In my client's case, she was what the world would perceive as the 'victim' in the situation. So the question I posed to her was not an easy one. But she graciously and openly accepted the reflective task for this period of Christmas in preparation for a new fresh start in 2015.
It is also a question that I have taken on for my own self-reflection and preparation for a brand new year. And it is a question that I think would benefit many.
In his book Hardwiring Happiness, neuropsychologist Dr Rick Hanson shared about the importance of regularly taking in the good to create neural pathways we need for well being. Unless we pay mindful, sustained attention to them, most positive experiences flow through our brains like water through a sieve. The brain is like Velcro for negative experiences but Teflon for positive ones.
If that it the case, then having a thankful heart would also allow us to create positive neural pathways as well as a healthy heart.
What does it mean for you to have a thankful heart?
I am still reflecting on the question and it has been liberating to explore some of the pathways that my heart takes me to. To savour each new insight and thought. Much to think about and lots of experiences to reframe. All which is useful and beneficial for moving ahead.

Daydreaming
2012 was a different sort of year and the break allowed me to process all that has happened as well as to rest. Internal recharging.
I have just started to ease back into 'work'. Am doing it at a slower pace than initially planned because I am listening to and honouring my inner self's desire for a little more break time. Again, I am grateful to be able to do this.
My inner self needs to be 100% recharged and revitalised. To spend some time just enjoying being, meditating, visualising. To daydream.
Daydreaming allows me to be in touch with my heart's true desires and to manifest the realities dreamt. As a young child, I engaged in daydreaming a lot. But oftentimes, the daydreams were probably 'wasted energy' because they were scattered and peppered with fears.
The difference is now, with all of life's experiences and the different courses/ trainings I have attended...daydreaming takes on a whole new dimension.
Like attract like.
Goodness attract goodness.
Compassion at core.
Daydreaming allows me to become a better person. Because to manifest the reality dreamt, inner change-work is needed.
Daydreaming allows me to remain positive. Regardless of life's flow, I can imagine and dream of a better reality. And choose my response that will manifest that reality.
Daydreaming allows me to continue being a dream catalyst. I can harness all of my learnings, tools and abilities to be of help to myself and others.
Daydreaming allows me to just be.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall
After that, I started to process it through and I realised it was not the filming that made me uncomfortable but looking at my 'crooked face'.
When I was 9 years old, the right side of my face was paralysed. Doctors suspected a burst vessel. I had to go for light therapy sessions once a week for about a year (if I am not mistaken) and for some time, was very conscious that my face was crooked.
After I learnt energy healing, I started to send healing to my face. Over time, it has become more aligned. Except on video, it is more obvious. Or perhaps, it is obvious when I speak to others but I only get to see myself on video so that affects me.
When my cousin (who helped us with the video) emailed it to me, I cringed when I first watched it and was tempted not to post it up. BUT this project is larger than my insecurities and vanity. And this is also a good opportunity for me to let go of this not-useful hang up about my 'crooked face'. The paralysis is an event that happened and I cannot change it. Instead, I am blessed to have overcome it and that is definitely more important than a little misalignment.
I have watched the video a couple more times and definitely, am focused on the happy message rather than on me. enJOY it!

Managing Grief
My friend Marilyn taught me the difference between sadness and grief. Knowing the difference helped me through some dark moments. And it is helping me now to manage my grief at her passing.Yes, in my heart I feel joy for where she is now. And I know that it calls for celebration rather than sadness. At the same time, there are moments still when my heart aches at the rawness of the loss. It feels strange that I do not see her when I walk into her room. Almost surreal when I am preparing meals in her kitchen and she is not there to taste them. When I am back in SG, I will have to get used to the absence of emails from her with all her chatty updates. We do love staying in touch and rarely days will go by without an email exchange.
Because I understand that it is important for me to feel joy for her, it helps in managing the grief. And when those raw moments struck, I run energy on my heart chakra to heal and balance it. This keeps me from wallowing or be engulfed in a continuous swirl of sadness and pain.
So yes, my dear friend, I will smile. Like you often say, we are blessed to have learnt tools to enable us to be resourceful and to stay joyful no matter what happens.

Active Aging
Life is what you create it to be.
Life is looking out for and seizing the opportunities that come your way.
Life is persevering when it gets tough or challenging.
Life is going with and enjoying flow.
After her retrenchment 11 years ago, my mum devoted her time to her family and volunteer work. Yet there are so many hours in a day that I often felt that it must be "boring' for her. Then two years ago, she signed up for training course at the Employment & Employability Institute (e2i) and soon found herself working for Universal Studios Singapore as an attraction host at the Return of the Mummy ride. It was not an easy journey returning to the workforce and I often tell her to work only if she enjoys it. She persevered.
On Sunday, I was chilling out with her at my grandma's place and I started to read the Sunday Times. When I came to the Lifestyle page 6, I had a surprise. My mum is in it!
She had been interviewed as one of three persons who have carved out a second career late in life. The interview took place several weeks ago but she kept quiet about it to surprise us. I am so proud of her that I msged my dear friends to share about it.
She persevered in her training and give her best in her job. She may be the oldest in her team yet her energy level and enthusiasm is contagious.
A close friend shared with me that she is inspired by my mum's example. I am too! And you bet, she will be a role model that I will cite to encourage my older clients that life can still be meaningful and enjoyable regardless of the age.

Moving forward, an improvement at a time
While the general prognosis for pancreatic cancer is poor, yet as long as we have life's breath, there is always hope, isn't it?
He has had chemo treatments but it did not help. As such, he decided to forgo further chemo treatments. I decided to share with them about Quantum-Touch and that if they were open to it, I will be happy to teach them both as well as do sessions. I know that by learning QT, they will now have an additional tool. Instead of a hopeless waiting, there will be daily strengthening and renewal of spirit, mind and body.
She arranged for us to meet for breakfast so that I could share more about it with her hubby. It was a happy day when he agreed to have the sessions as well as learn it. :)
We started our first treatment session in December. As they picked up the technique easily, we decided on weekly sessions by me and she/he will do daily sessions of at least 30 minutes.
Today, he shared with me that he is no longer on painkillers which he was taking for a while. At the same time, he had a clot in his knee which was causing him pain. Now, the pain is gone. Emotionally, he is also feeling peaceful.
These are improvements. So rather than focus on how weak one may still be, look for the positive difference and focus on that.
And I also shared with him an exercise to do as he prepares to sleep and first thing upon awaking. This would further enhance a positive mind and being which will aid in the healing process.
Sure, some people might feel that being positive is akin to living in la-la-land and not being grounded in reality. If you are the client, you will know that are constantly being reminded of reality and what you are facing. Changing one's focus to be positive is adding a new layer of vibration to change the reality into a healthier and happier one. So, rather than be in a miserable hopeless state, why not embrace living and healing in a forward positive manner?

Achieving Bliss
I was startled out of my meditative state by a very angry shout. A fellow commuter had shouted at the bus driver because he mistakenly thought the driver was not going to let him alight at the bus stop. It was a super long bus and we had yet to pull into the bus stop. When the man alighted, he had the same angry look and state.Nothing changed even thought the 'event' was over.
Managing of our emotions is internal.
Bliss is remaining centred regardless of external triggers or events.
I used to be highly affected by circumstances, situations and people. As a result, each day had the potentional to be an emotional coaster ride.
Then as I learnt tools to manage and detox non useful emotions as well as remain non affected, each day became largely blissful with the occasional dips. I am responsible for my own emotions and responses. That gives us control and the ability to achieve bliss. And faciliates our growth to be bliss.

Usher in a magical 2011
It is the last day of 2010 and and a brilliant time to let go of what’s past and create a world of possibilities for 2011.If 2010 has been a fruitful year for you, then you can continue your new year on a positive note. Spend today filled with gratitude for the many blessings... a thankful heart leaves room for even more goodness to flow in.
If 2010 has not been a swell year for you, decide right now to let it go. Instead of focusing and wasting your energy on how awful or unhappy it had been, might as well focus your attention and energy on the brand new year ahead. 5 mins focusing on the negative is the same as 5 mins focusing on the positive. The difference is that the negative will hold you anchored to the past while the positive has an amplifying effect that can help to propel you forward. So focus your energy on what you want; not on what has already happened. Rather than rehash what went wrong (which is already in the past), why not focus on what could be better?
A useful starting question you can ask yourself is: What would make you happy?
If you don’t know what makes you happy, then most likely you will find yourself caught in an endless web of unhappiness. If you don’t know what makes you happy, then it is challenging or near impossible for anyone else in your life to help or give a little nudge. So if you desire to create a different life for yourself, spend some moments today thinking about what would make you happy.
As William Jennings Bryan says "Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice". I came across this quote during my dark nights and it has helped me to create the life I desire. In the same way, you too can start 2011 on a fresh new note.
So, as the brand new year dawns, may you experience joy, love, passion, laughter, fun and peace in all you do. May it be a time of new beginnings and the enjoyment of being. Happy new year!

As long as we have life's breath, there is always hope :)
Today, thought I will blog about the progress of one of my clients. I am inspired by his courage and determination to live a life of positive hope.Monday, August 30, 2010
As long as we have life's breath, there's always hope...
Indeed.
And I am glad to have the opportunity to share this statement with a new client. He was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer. Naturally, the news caused distress to him and his family. Then they courageously moved beyond despair and started to look for options. Rather than sink in helplessness, they sought helpful tools.
During our last healing session, I was glad to observe his :) state of mind and attitude. He and his wife have also started learning QT.
Instead of hopelessness, they are filled with renewed hope and positivity as they go on this healing journey. Happy for them!

pain or bliss, YOU can choose
"Because you are courageous and open-minded, that's why you could find solutions and now feel so different."I shared these heartfelt words recently to my client when she came to see me for a follow-through. Her story of transformation from a world of pain to one of bliss is an example of how being courageous and open-minded brings about change.
Within a month, her life became remarkably different. The positive change is so drastic that her colleagues and family members noticed the difference and affirmed her on it.
When she was introduced to me by her colleague, she had just left her job due to emotional stress. She was feeling depressed and had many fears and doubts. When her colleague shared with her about the work I do, she gamely agreed to see me even though she's not familiar with energy healing at all. She was also open-minded enough to follow my recommendation for complementary solutions that will accelerate her healing journey.
As a result, she's now happy, positive and confident. She's also returned to work, months ahead of her initial plan! Her world has changed from one of fear to one of positive excitement and action. She's looking forward to life in joyful anticipation. Her environment was the same but her inner being glows so differently that the environment reacts positively to her change.
You can choose to live in a world of pain or in a world of bliss. When you make a choice that you desire life to be better and brighter on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level, opportunities will be presented to you to help you - catalyst for change. It could be a friend offering assistance, you making a call to a helpline, a stranger offering advice or in the case of my client, her colleague sharing about my services.
When the catalyst is presented, it is useful to explore it and then make a choice based on knowledge and evaluation. Some people simply discard or shut their minds to the presented solutions without even knowing what it is!
As my client was walking out of the treatment room the other day, she shared that she is grateful to me and her colleague for helping her. I hugged her and told her that I am grateful that she was open-minded so that we can be of help.

Being patient with yourself
My clients/ friends/ students often tell me: "I want to scan like you do", "I want to feel happy like you do", "I want to be as successful like you", "I want to enjoy life the way you do", "I want, I want.."
Sure, we all have wants. The key is to have YOUR wants or dreams and not compare/ benchmark against someone else. What makes YOU happy and not what makes you happy because it makes ABC happy.
That's the lesson I learnt. In my book, I wrote about how I used to strive to be the best in all I do - the best student, the best daughter, the best friend, the best volunteer, the best employee, the best..the best.. the best. An endless and tiring list because I strove to be the best as that would make people like me or fulfill others' expectations. At that time, I did not like myself very much and so external validation of my self worth was so very important. As I went on my self-healing journey, self-acceptance and self-love became personalised and lived. No longer just a concept.
The second lesson I learnt is to be patient with myself. This is as challenging as learning to love myself. Efficiency and fast results were two key words in my operating vocabulary and so I had to overcome my impatience as I started to rebuild my life.
My skills and gifting came with time and the dream life I'm leading was achieved through effort, mistakes, learnings, tears, joys, support, setbacks, challenges, positivity. It took time. Friends who have journeyed with me will share with you that I certainly went on a pretty long journey to get here. Periods of sadness and despair coupled with doubts that life can be different. Patience was so very needed then. (Btw, it is also needed now as I continue on this new phase of life. I have to be patient as I grow my passion into a successful practice.)
We are on a perfecting journey. So rather than live a life regretting what you have done or not done, focus your energies on how you can be better the next time or do things differently. Above all, be patient with yourself and be kind to yourself as you go on this perfecting journey. We are often our harshest critics and that's the internal blockage that we face. When released, we will then allow flow to happen. Bliss.

Enhancing life force energy
They have been around since 1996 but it was my first visit to the place. The concept of My Foot Reflexology is to provide a place for relaxation, fully serviced by the handicapped. My therapist D was friendly and very good at what he does.
About 30 mins into my massage session, he asked me what I do for a living. When I shared with him my passion for energy work, his reply was: "Ahhhh, now I understand". Apparently, as he was working on me, he was puzzled as to why the 'texture' of my muscles etc was so very 'different' from all the customers he has worked on. He felt that my level of "qi" or life force energy is very high.
D's sharing reinforced the benefits of running energy to further enhance one's life force energy. Since I started energy work, my health has improved and I feel very good. My life is also abundantly different. But it takes discipline. I made a conscious decision to incorporate self-healing sessions into my daily life. And now, I also make time for myself to recharge even though I am "running energy" for others almost everyday.
So for those of you seeking to improve your well-being and are already energy trained, make time for self-healing sessions. Even a short session of 5 mins a day will bring about beneficial changes!

Being Love 2
On my way to meet a friend, I witnessed the kind act of Love 3 onboard bus 28. In a crowded bus, a uncle made the effort to inform a stranger seated across him that the plastic bag that she was carrying had a hole. Thanks to him, she will have still have delicious kueh keuh to eat when she's home.
Love 4 recently sold and moved out of her home. Most people would just pack and leave the place empty for the new owner. She cleared, cleaned and even cleansed the place so that the new owner will be moving in to positive energy.
It's the start of a brand new week and kindness opportunities await us... enJOY being love(d)!!!!

Being Love
To be love, one important step is to be able to love yourself first. Without fully appreciating your own goodness, strengths and yes, even the parts that ain't that great, it will be challenging to fully unconditionally love and appreciate someone else. To be love also means the ability to care for others. And this extends to people beyond your circles.
To be love is an opening of your heart, an abundant mindset, generous in spirit and kind in actions. Because of the diversity of needs, how one chooses to be love can be totally unique. It need not follow a set pattern nor strategy.
In past two weeks, two persons inspired me by their example of what it means to be love.
Love 1 smsed me one day to enquire about purchasing healing sessions for her new colleague who has been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. He was completely surprised by her gesture and extremely thankful for this gift of love. In fact, he shared with her that his family and friends asked him why his colleague would help him cos' she is after all a stranger. She shared with me that whenever she sees him at the store, he is always smiling. And so she thought she would like to lend a hand of hope at this challenging phase of his life. Touched by her gesture, I've offered her a discounted fee for a package specially designed for him . Besides intensive QT healing sessions, I will also be coaching him on QT techniques as well as doing a chakra scan and enhancement session.
Love 2 attended a course recently and invited a colleague who was attending the same course to join her for lunch at Seah Street Deli (Raffles Hotel). He readily agreed. When they were seated at the table, she observed that he seems very uncomfortable. He then shared that it was his first visit to a "posh" restaurant as he comes from a lower income family. She immediately sought subtle ways to put him at ease and when the bill came, she told him it was her treat as she invited him. Kindness served on a platter.
To some, being love means making time to be a volunteer. That's one way. In our daily living, there are also countless opportunities for us to be love. For many, it also takes discipline to be love ie, make it a conscious decision to do kind deeds so that it becomes a way of life. You need not necessarily search for opportunities but when an opportunity arises, grab it.

Would you give it a go? Would you help someone else?
If I choose to keep quiet for whatever reasons, then I deprive them of the opportunity of having another option. At the same time, if you are unwell, would you give yourself an opportunity to have additional options?
This morning, a friend shared with me about her friend whose mother possibly has leukemia. They are waiting for additional tests to confirm. So I told my friend that her friend might consider getting her (she's QT trained) to work on her mum. Complementary therapy to the doctor's treatments. My friend shared that this friend is utterly closed to Quantum-Touch but knowing my friend, she'll probably give it another shot.
It is unfortunate that this person made a decision for her mum without even giving her mum the option to decide. Am keeping my fingers crossed that she will change her mind. :)
In the same way, many people close options for their family or friends simply by not passing on information because they decide that it would not work.
With more options, the road to recovery is certainly brighter. And even if there's no recovery (we are not the creator, just helpers), the road is a lot smoother and less painful. These are the benefits that those with an open mind have discovered.
So, would you give it a go for a brighter possibility? Would you pass on information that will benefit someone else?

How often do you shower?
Once? Twice? Numerous?
In our hot and humid weather, most of us would shower at least twice a day to clean and refresh ourselves.
I often use this analogy to explain to people why it is beneficial to have regular healing sessions (either you can do it for yourself or see a therapist) to maintain or further enhance one's well-being. The frequency of sessions would depend on the state and situation of the client. For example, if the client is facing a highly stressful period of time, then he or she might benefit from a weekly or bi-weekly session. If it's simply for a boost or "maintenance", then monthly or bi-monthly papmpering will be sufficient.
It is not weakness to have regular healing sessions. Rather, it is an investment into your well-being (mental, emotional, physical and spirit) the same way you would exercise or go for massages/ facials. The focus and outcome of the healing sessions would also differ. For example, a client may initially see me for sessions to heal his backache. Once that's resolved, he may take up a package for montly booster sessions to maintain his physical and emotional well-being.
For myself, I run energy every single day. At the same time, I also pamper myself with monthly healing sessions by a friend. This has certainly helped to further enhance my well-being. For those of you who are energy trained, do make it a point to run energy on yourself regulary even if it's for 5 minutes. You will notice a difference. :) :) :)

Off Anti-Depressants
In March this year, during our one to one coaching/ energy session, he shared that he has stopped taking Prozac as well as stopped going on drinking binges. I was delighted at his decision and more importantly at his courage to face life on his own terms.
It is July and he's been off Prozac for months now. There were a couple of times when he felt tempted to take it but he overcame it. Instead, he would either run energy himself or see me for a session.
He shared that through the years, he's always wanted to go off the pill. As much as it helped him, it was also shredding his self-esteem. Therefore, he is extremely proud of himself for succeeding in this. I am very proud of him too. He's an example of a client who takes responsibilty to change one's life. No blaming of others, circumstances etc. And this is why his life is changing for the better!
