3 Reflective Activities to Usher in 2015
If we celebrate the years behind us they become stepping-stones of strength and joy for the years ahead.
It is two days before the dawn of 2015. A perfect time for reflection in preparation for a brand new year.
Here are three suggestions for reflective activities:
What Would You Like 2015 to be Like?
For the past few years, I have set a new year resolution for example, my resolution for 2014 is to be anchored in bliss, feel bliss, gift bliss and be bliss. While people often cite that resolutions do not work, and studies show that most people fail, I believe that resolutions can work for you if you decide to be guided by it as much as possible. I did not feel pressured nor restricted by it so it became easier to follow.
I used to set specific goals but since 2011, I started to set intentions instead which works very well for me. The intentions provide a 'roadmap' for what you want to do, to be and to have. For those of you who work better with setting specific goals, please do so. Utilise the system which works best for you. :)
Tip 1: when you are setting your resolution and intentions, please feel happy and joyous doing it so that you are amplifying happy energies!
Tip 2: State what you want and not what you do not want.
What Makes You Happy?
For those of you who are in a stormy period of your life, perhaps this reflective exercise of knowing what makes you happy would be useful.
If you do not know what would make you happy then most likely, you will find yourself caught in an endless web of unhappiness. If you do not know what would make you happy, then it is challenging or near impossible for anyone else in your life to help give a little nudge.
If you are feeling unhappy right now, take some time off for yourself. Have a cup of tea or coffee, relax and then start thinking about what would make you happy. If your mind starts to go "but I can't achieve that", "how can I get that" etc, STOP and bring your attention back to what would make you happy.
During the session, if your mind is a blank when it comes to what would make you happy, then that's an important realisation and insight for you isn't it? If that happens, then recognise your new insight and start to focus on the future.
For those who are experiencing severe pain and this is an impossible exercise to do...be brave to seek and accept help. Confide in a friend or make an appointment to speak with a counsellor, coach or therapist. Everyone deserves to live a life of joy and dignity.
Creating Your Dream Boards
In 2007,my dear friend M encouraged me to put up my vision (dream) boards - not just the typical one that most people do but three separate boards for me to paste pictures of the things I'd like to be doing, having and being.
The boards forced me to reflect on what I truly wanted in life at that given point in time (you have to think before you put stuff up!), allowed me to dream bigger and gave me that extra dosage of sunshine when I felt down.
Bit by bit, month by month, year by year... what I like to be doing, having and being became a manifested reality. Some quicker, while some took a wee longer. The boards helped me to creatively energetically Visual-Realise my dreams while embarking on the many learning journeys helped to accelerate the transformation of my life.
Instead of 3 boards, you could combine them into one. Besides pictures, you can also include written words or phrases. You can review and change your board(s) along the way.

A Thankful Heart
![]() |
She is going through probably the fiercest hardest storm to-date. She's been bruised and battered by the hard winds and shivered for countless nights. But through it all, she's found refuge and sanctuary and, an inner strength and resilience. Above all, she has been able (with great determination and discipline) to maintain a strong sense of calm. Releasing of hatred and anger is the goal she is working towards.
It is not easy being my client because at the onset of our journey together, I tell them that my role is not to sugar coat nor am I in a popularity contest. My role is to be a catalyst in the transformational journey and that means facing hard truths at times. It also means accepting and taking action on recommendations even if it is something that throws them out of their comfort zone. Or something that is painful for them to do. For those with perseverance and willingness to do what it takes, there is always positive changes.
In my client's case, she was what the world would perceive as the 'victim' in the situation. So the question I posed to her was not an easy one. But she graciously and openly accepted the reflective task for this period of Christmas in preparation for a new fresh start in 2015.
It is also a question that I have taken on for my own self-reflection and preparation for a brand new year. And it is a question that I think would benefit many.
In his book Hardwiring Happiness, neuropsychologist Dr Rick Hanson shared about the importance of regularly taking in the good to create neural pathways we need for well being. Unless we pay mindful, sustained attention to them, most positive experiences flow through our brains like water through a sieve. The brain is like Velcro for negative experiences but Teflon for positive ones.
If that it the case, then having a thankful heart would also allow us to create positive neural pathways as well as a healthy heart.
What does it mean for you to have a thankful heart?
I am still reflecting on the question and it has been liberating to explore some of the pathways that my heart takes me to. To savour each new insight and thought. Much to think about and lots of experiences to reframe. All which is useful and beneficial for moving ahead.

What do you believe in?
![]() |
| The beliefs you hold will have a positive or negative impact on your life and being. |
Does it propel you forward or keep you trapped in the past? Does it gift you joy or lock you in pain? Does it let you take desired action or paralyse you with fears?
Understanding about beliefs, how they affected me and changing my limiting beliefs was one of the key transformative tool for me. That was about 8 or 9 years ago? And to-date, it remains an important tool for inner awareness and change.
Non useful beliefs are called limiting beliefs eg "I am stupid", "I am a failure", "I'm lousy at Maths", "Life is painful/ difficult", "I'll always be a failure", "I suck at relationships".
Beliefs are never absolutely true. For every belief, there is always a counter belief.

Dealing with Stress
From the great turnout for both sessions, it is a topic that's close to our hearts as we juggle our multiple roles in our daily lives.
I think it is wonderful for the bank to initiate various networks to look after their employees' welfare. Kudos to the bank and to the volunteers who are on the planning committees!
At the same time, the bank and the organisers can initiate programmes but without the voluntary participation of the employees, it would be a waste of effort.
Everybody's learning journey is different and some of the sharing covered during the talk might be familiar to some. Yet my desire is that even for those who have attended many of such talks, they leave mine with one or two golden nuggets that they can apply to their daily living.

The QT workshop was helpful and beneficial. Not only has it taught me how to conduct QT healing, it has also broadened my awareness on energy and how to use it to benefit my daily life. Now I use it mostly to energize or calm myself, and it works well. Also, Bernadette is very caring and she took time and effort to advise us on certain problems in our personal life when we asked.
What made it even better was attending it with my mother. Together we made this interesting learning experience, and it brought both of us to a deeper level of mutual understanding. We now have something more in common to talk about, and we can help heal each other when needed. Both of us have no regrets attending it, and we definitely recommend it.

Bernadette has been an extremely engaging trainer throughout the QT session, who manages break this complicated and seemingly intimidating field into something easy to grasp. Her stories were truly inspiring as they drove us to re-think our paradigms with the powerful principles like 'Energy follows intention' and 'Breathe, breathe, breathe!' which she emphasized and reinforced since day one. The QT workshop also gave us a unique way of understanding how we function as facilitators of healing and that our highest positive intention drives the process. The workshop has been filled with fun, laughter, joy, and sometimes tears as there were moments that touched the depths of our hearts, and if not, our soul. An excellent program with impressive and professional trainer! Please keep up the great work!

I attended Bernadette's Quantum-Touch workshop on the recommendation of friends. They told me that it was a very powerful energy modality and that they were able to use it immediately to heal people. As I personally discovered in Bernadette's 2-day workshop, QT is all that, but it's also fun and easy to learn. Bernadette is an experienced trainer. She combines just the right amount of theory with hands-on learning and she's affable and warm so everyone learns and enjoys. Bernadette includes Chakra balancing and healing in her workshop, which is especially interesting and helpful. After only one workshop I've been able to use QT for all kinds of healing and self-improvement. I highly recommend it!

Recharge Yourself

People often mistakenly think that healing sessions are only for those who are ill, in pain or in trouble. Actually, lots of clients who enjoy good health and happy lives know that having recharging sessions once a month to rejuvenate and for maintenance is essential to continued well-being physically, mentally and emotionally.
Besides doing self-healing for myself, I too pamper myself once a month with a recharge session by one of my fellow therapists. Why not? Our well-being is important isn't it?

Journey Together
Received a happy email this morning from a client. I had mentioned to her previously that she was probably lacking a nutrient. She had a test following the sharing and discovered high level of homocysteine level. This comes from lack of vitamin b complex. High levels are linked to many diseases. She is making changes to her diet and is glad to have discovered it. Start of year has been very positive.I am happy too that she took the insight given and actively did something about it. We are often called healers by our clients yet we are but catalysts. We act as an instrument, a tool to help our clients on their healing journey. For clients who actively engage in their journey and work together with us; taking into account our insights/ recommendations, their healing is often accelerated.
Every healing journey is unique and different. For some, it could be just healing/ therapy sessions required. For others, insights/ recommendations are received which needs to be done to accelerate the healing. I can share what I receive. Yet I can't force my client to do the suggestions. It is still their choice.
It is journey together. :))

Client's increased appetite and sense of taste :)
In my last post on him in January, I shared that after the sessions, he was off his ultra strong painkillers which he had been taking for months before meeting me.
Yesterday, he shared with me that his appetite has also increased and that he can finally taste the flavours of food again! When I first met him, he shared with me that he was upset that food no longer had taste and he wished very much that he will be able to enjoy food once more. So you can imagine how happy he is at the improvements!

Everybody's healing journey is unique
- 1 distance healing session, client's spouse became calmer, happier and could even joke after weeks of tension.
- 4 sessions, client with pancreatic cancer no longer needs his strong painkillers which he has been taking for months.
- 20 mins, a pregnant mummy's cramps gone.
- 3 sessions, client's chronic back aches for years gone....
Everybody's healing journey is unique. Comparison with others is a setback and not necessary. So focus on your journey and celebrate your improvements. :)

Hi Bernadette
How time flies…. It’s been just over a full year since I attended your Quantum Touch certification course in January 2009. But I wanted to share my experiences with Quantum-Touch (QT) in the months that came after.
When I first started out, it was hard to incorporate QT in my daily life. It took lots of practice to keep the breathing right, and my family were (still are) are quite skeptical. So I ended up using QT for my work life almost exclusively.
It was on and off, for a long time. They say it takes 14 days to form a habit but only if it’s 14 days straight! I worked at it and finally got into the habit of QTing before I went in to work.
As I do the overnight shift most often, I QTed for loads of calls to help me meet my work targets. I also QTed for good calls, so I wouldn’t get so stressed out (I work in a call centre). After a while, I realised this was exactly what I was getting. I would be pretty busy, but I wouldn’t FEEL busy. The calls would come in quickly, and end quickly, with no real problem customers or issues emerging. It was great! This continued for about 3-4 months.
Then in September 2009, for various reasons, I was motivated to produce a less-busy shift. Now I QTed for a good shift, and an easy one at that. It took a while, too, for me to realise that woohoo! It was working! It’s been good and easy shifts for the last 4 months or so and now if I don’tQT before my shift starts, I feel uneasy. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s my imagination…. But I also have to share that on my off days, my colleagues seem
busier. So I can only suspect that when I QT for a good and easy shift, the energy flows and encompasses my colleagues on that day too. Interesting thought, yes?
By the way, for those that are statistically inclined, the busier shifts saw me taking about 35 to 45 calls on average, per shift. Now, when I QT for an easier shift, I do an average of 20 – 30 calls only. It’s a significant shift volume-wise.
I just wanted to let you know that QT seems to have worked in a small but very significant way for me. The QT website shares loads of examples on life-changing health or emotional issues. But the small things matter too. Perhaps your other QT graduates may find this an useful example?
All the best!
~~~
You can also read the QT website for more healing stories.
Enhancing life force energy
They have been around since 1996 but it was my first visit to the place. The concept of My Foot Reflexology is to provide a place for relaxation, fully serviced by the handicapped. My therapist D was friendly and very good at what he does.
About 30 mins into my massage session, he asked me what I do for a living. When I shared with him my passion for energy work, his reply was: "Ahhhh, now I understand". Apparently, as he was working on me, he was puzzled as to why the 'texture' of my muscles etc was so very 'different' from all the customers he has worked on. He felt that my level of "qi" or life force energy is very high.
D's sharing reinforced the benefits of running energy to further enhance one's life force energy. Since I started energy work, my health has improved and I feel very good. My life is also abundantly different. But it takes discipline. I made a conscious decision to incorporate self-healing sessions into my daily life. And now, I also make time for myself to recharge even though I am "running energy" for others almost everyday.
So for those of you seeking to improve your well-being and are already energy trained, make time for self-healing sessions. Even a short session of 5 mins a day will bring about beneficial changes!
