The Fragility of Life

We all know of someone or know someone who knows someone who depart from this realm suddenly. It is especially difficult when it is someone young or someone who died unexpectedly. That's when we remind ourselves about the fragility of life. That's when we remind ourselves to treasure life and our loved ones in all moments.

Then our schedules catch up with us. Our to-do lists need to be checked off. The endless cycle of work that needs completing.  And we forget.

The fragility of life.

It is not just when someone we love departs from this realm that we feel this. It happens when relationship changes unexpectedly and suddenly.

The fragility of life.

It spur us to treasure the moments. It allows us to be detached from expectations of a forever and forever. It facilitates the movement of grace for people to change their minds.

It adds to the precious beauty that is life.

When friendships end..

There are some nights when I dream about some friendships that have ended and I wake up with an ache in my heart. But instead of crying, I run energy on my heart chakra to provide a soothing balm. Instead of being angry, I release the hurts so that the toxicity of anger does not remain. Instead of imposing, I do cord cutting to let go.

I treasured those friendships and would have preferred them to have continued, to be a forever friend. But it has to be desired by both parties. And if it isn't, then respect for the other person's choice is needed. No matter how painful it might be.

When we are able to let go as lovingly and kindly as possible, we allow grace to enter. While we may not see the tangible effect, it is there. And our heart stays open for the continued unfolding of love and gladness.

Managing Grief

My friend Marilyn taught me the difference between sadness and grief. Knowing the difference helped me through some dark moments. And it is helping me now to manage my grief at her passing.

Yes, in my heart I feel joy for where she is now. And I know that it calls for celebration rather than sadness. At the same time, there are moments still when my heart aches at the rawness of the loss. It feels strange that I do not see her when I walk into her room. Almost surreal when I am preparing meals in her kitchen and she is not there to taste them. When I am back in SG, I will have to get used to the absence of emails from her with all her chatty updates. We do love staying in touch and rarely days will go by without an email exchange.

Because I understand that it is important for me to feel joy for her, it helps in managing the grief. And when those raw moments struck, I run energy on my heart chakra to heal and balance it. This keeps me from wallowing or be engulfed in a continuous swirl of sadness and pain.

So yes, my dear friend, I will smile. Like you often say, we are blessed to have learnt tools to enable us to be resourceful and to stay joyful no matter what happens.

Angels

Do you
Hear me calling you
The voice of a mother, a father and a child
Would you recognize the truth
Do you feel a love that's falling from my eyes

Take just a minute
Come and rest you by my side
Let me tell you your own story
Let me walk you through your lives
Only a second
That's all it takes to realize
There's a hundred thousand angels
By your side

Do you
Hear me talk to you
I whisper through the doorways
And pathways of your mind
Clear like the morning dew
And fresh from my journey
Cross an ocean of blue

Take just a minute
Come and rest you by my side
Let me tell you your own story
Let me walk you through your lives
Only a second
That's all it takes to realize

There's a hundred thousand angels by your side
There's a hundred thousand angels by your side

***

My dear friend Marilyn left this physical realm on Monday. In my previous post Keeping Faith, I shared about the healing journey that she had undertaken. How she stayed positive in spite of the negativity of the doctors' diagnosis. How we met a caring and professional medical team at St Georg Klinik in Bad Aibling Germany. How her family and friends rallied together in love.

Kindness, joy and love.

The essence of who she is.
The qualities of the final phase of her earthly journey.
The basis for her journey ahead.
And the legacy that she leaves and lives in her family.

Kindness, joy and love.

That's the energy that emanated from her the first time we met. She had found my contact from the list of certified QT practitioners and emailed me from Scotland on 16 Feb 2007, asking about a healing session when she is in Singapore for a planned holiday.

It was much later when we were friends that I shared with her that she was my first paid client. It was also much later that I realised she had chosen me from the list of practitioners because she felt I can be a friend.

Even from the start, we connected metaphysically as well even though we were miles and miles apart. I was rereading our email exchanges and very soon after we met, I had emailed her saying that her face popped up and so as with always, will follow the guidance. At that time, she was back in Scotland. She emailed back to share that her dad had passed on several days ago.

And whenever she popped over to Singapore, we will meet up and it felt that we knew each other for a very long time. In between the catching up, we stayed in touch through emails. We both enjoy writing and reading letters, so we wrote to each other very often. I did a check a couple of days ago and there is 700+ of emails exchanges between us. :)

In 2008, I visited Scotland for the first time and she warmly welcomed me into her home and her family. That month long hols was my longest ever at that time and it was also life changing. Shortly after the trip, I decided to quit my corporate training job to focus on energy healing full time. M was one of the those who encouraged me to pursue my life's purpose.

Through the days, months and years, we have shared many wonderful memories and exchanged lots of insights. She has witnessed my personal growth as well as that as a healer. She is a friend who accepted me and loved me for who I am - whizzy whazziness and all.

So yes, I do miss her physical presence with me. Yet in the eternal joy of all that is, I know we are still connected.

And so, joy is the theme for the service that will take place next week. No sombre colours or mourning. Instead, it will be a celebration of the extraordinary woman who walked on this world, touching and influencing the lives of those she met. I am blessed to have met her and have her in my life.

Kindness, joy and love.

Change

Woke up this morning to a different view than the usual one of flats at Bedok. I am back in a land I love very much, Scotland.

I was here in November last year and planned to be back again sometime in Spring or Summer. This impromptu trip was not expected but I am glad to be here.

Change. Possibilities. Flow.

The inevitable changing landscape of life. Yet with every change, embracing a positive mindset and heart allows us to cope with the differences that each landscape brings with it. A stormy one isn't the most enjoyable yet often, we discover mechanisms for shelter and growth. To face our fears and allow hope to dissolve them. To expand our knowledge and utilise tools of transformation. To see beyond the storms and look forward to the change it heralds.

Change. Possibilities. Flow.

Forgiveness. Compassion. Blessing.

As a therapist, I have opportunities to witness the beautiful compassionate energy that people possess - when they are able to let go of hurt and pain, forgive and move on. It is not easy and sometimes, it may take a while before they are able to do this. And that it perfectly okay as everyone moves to a different pace and time on his or her healing journey.

To forgive is truly an act of courage because you choose to accept responsibility to change your life regardless of what another person has done to you.

To forgive is truly an act of compassion because you choose to see the person who has hurt you in a different positive light.

And in turn, to forgive becomes a blessing and healing for you.

"... blessing is the ancient secret that releases us from life's suffering long enough to replace it with another feeling. When we bless the people or things that have hurt us, we're temporarily suspending the cycle of pain. Whether this suspension lasts for a nanosecond or an entire day makes no difference. Whatever the period of time, during the blessing a doorway opens for us to begin our healing and move on with life. The key is that for some interval, we're released from our hurt long enough to let something else into our hearts and minds: the power of 'beauty'" ~ Gregg Braden
I witnessed the beauty of this in a healing session this morning with a client. My client has had a challenging relationship with his mother for years. Today, I asked him if he was willing and ready to forgive his mum for the hurts caused. This would be the final breakthrough needed for his healing journey. Though there was a bit of a struggle, he said yes.

He opened himself to the outpouring of compassionate energy, and as we did the session, this peaceful loving energy was present throughout. And when we did the cord cutting and forgiveness segment, I could feel a 'weight' leaving his energy field. All that remains is peace.

And when we did the rebuilding of the energy cord, there was no trace of the old irritation or frustration. Instead, peace and calmness were the key emotions present.

When he first agreed to forgiving, he did not know if he was going to be able to do it. Yet because he decided to give it a go and set the intention as such, it was possible.

He was able to forgive and bless his mum. And in so doing, he gained peace.
