Acquiring Valuable Knowledge

You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives. ~Clay P. Bedford

I am a firm believer of on-going learning, and through the past decades, have invested time and money on my own personal development as well as to further enhance my skills to be even better at what I enjoy doing. As such, it is a delight to meet like-minded people be it management teams or participants through the course of my work (though work isn't that apt a term as I enjoy what I do and as such, do not see it as work work).

The following sharing is from one of my participants who recently attended the Quantum-Touch workshop, one of the training modules that I conduct. It is a wellness workshop that has benefitted many.

Doris Tan

I came across Quantum Touch by chance while searching online for energy healing information.  By affinity, Bernadette became my 2 days Quantum Touch Level 1 workshop’s instructor.  The workshop was held on 1st and 2nd August 2015.  I came with a skeptical yet open-minded mind to see what Quantum Touch can do wonders.   Within few minutes after the start of workshop, I was already very comfortable with Bernadette (B in short).  Her self-confident level has assured me to renounce my skeptical mind which was instantaneous after the first attempt of experiencing the amazing energy we naturally possess during the practical session.  It was really a “wow!” for me, first time in my life of having such sensation and visualization of my own energy.

The experiences I had during this workshop are definitely unforgettable - Quantum Touch really can do wonders!  I was having trigger finger for months before this workshop.  I thought it probably due to nerves around the hand region, never did it occur to me that it was actually caused by the injury of my cervical vertebrae at C2 and C3 positions which happened many years ago.  This was surfaced during the practical session when the experienced B took notice of my cervical vertebrae and all the way from my arm to my trigger finger.  While energy was focused on my C2 and C3, my trigger finger actually twitched as if there was a string connected to my neck, followed by a warm sensation on my palm.  I could also felt the strong “up& down” energy movement between my C2 and C3.  In fact, B’s hands were stationary on my neck all the while.  I simply love this sensation and such technique taught is valuable for me to continue to work on myself after the workshop.

My skeptical mind emerged once again when distance healing was taught.  However, it subsided immediately upon testing out during the practical session.  My classmate was then at a far distance, no where could be seen.  By running energy on him imagery, he could amazingly felt and described the energy flow exactly as what I have performed on him during the sharing session.  There are many more amazing distance healing phenomenon stories which I personally practiced after the two days workshop.  I started to fall in love with the powerful distance healing J.

Lastly, I really enjoyed very much during the two days workshop, not only I have acquired a new valuable knowledge in my learning path but also I have made wonderful friends during these two days.  This newly acquired knowledge is definitely an added aid to subside my ailments as well as a compliment tool to my other professions.  Other than working on myself, now I am able to help my family and friends too.  Thank you, B for generously sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

Jack of All Trades, A Master of 10

While flipping though The Peak, an interview with Jeffrey Seah, South-east Asia CEO of global brand communications group Starcom Mediavest caught my eye.

"My hope is that every Singaporean will be a jack of all trades and a master of 10. It is not easy to be an all-rounder, as everyone wants to excel in one particular field. Having this awareness and a positive reaction to such stimuli will be the true application of Darwinism. The marketing and communications industry in Singapore will benefit with such mindsets."

What an interesting positive spin on an adage that could be perceived as a limiting statement and belief!

When someone has a multitude of interests and skills sets, they are often encouraged to focus so that they can master one or two of them. But there are some of us who simply enjoy learning new skills and acquiring new portfolios and hats.

Take for example, my publisher Kok Hwa from Candid Creation Publishing. 4 years after our first meeting, he is now an Action Learning Coach as well as a trainer with his own workshop ‘So You Want to Be an Author?’. The expansion and continuous mastery of new trades have opened up new opportunities and an exciting new world for him.

Singapore's 'Mother Teresa', the late Teresa Hsu who passed on in 2011 aged 113 is another example. At aged 47, she enrolled and was accepted into a three- year nursing course in London meant for students under 25. At 67, she founded one of the first home for the aged sick in Singapore in the 1960s where she worked until she was 85 years old. She picked up yoga at the age of 69 and started teaching it to the young and old at temples, associations, hospitals and schools. Truly inspiring!

And there are many other examples.

The key operative word here is mastery. It is not simply a shallow interest or shallow application but a deep desire to delve as deep as possible, and apply the new skills to its best possible use whether for one’s personal development or the betterment of the world around us. An on-going attitude of curious and open learning not limited by age nor the naysayers surrounding us.

It makes life all the richer for ourselves, and those around us.

What do you believe in?

The beliefs you hold will have a positive or
negative impact on your life and being.
What do you believe in?

Does it propel you forward or keep you trapped in the past? Does it gift you joy or lock you in pain? Does it let you take desired action or paralyse you with fears?

Understanding about beliefs, how they affected me and changing my limiting beliefs was one of the key transformative tool for me. That was about 8 or 9 years ago? And to-date, it remains an important tool for inner awareness and change.

Your beliefs are like the operating system to your brain. They are one of the primary filters that determine what you delete and what you pay attention to. They determine how you perceive and interpret your experiences.

Beliefs act as self fulfilling prophecies. They act as permissions as well as blocks to what we can do. They have to be acted on if they are to mean anything; therefore beliefs are principles of action, not empty ideals.

Non useful beliefs are called limiting beliefs eg "I am stupid", "I am a failure", "I'm lousy at Maths", "Life is painful/ difficult", "I'll always be a failure", "I suck at relationships".

Beliefs are never absolutely true. For every belief, there is always a counter belief.
A client of mine held a limiting belief that he does not make a good partner after his ex-wife decided to leave him. As he went on a healing journey of awareness, change and action, he formed new powerful beliefs for a new phase of life. Today, he is happily remarried with a beautiful daughter.

Another client of mine could not see herself progressing in her career and felt that she could only be a sales executive. After a change of mindset and beliefs held, she is now a GM. A position she would never have dared to dream about when she held onto her limiting beliefs. The change happen within a short span of a few years. A big transformative (and I would happy!) leap for her.

Awareness of the beliefs you consciously or subconsciously hold is a great start to understanding yourself better. And a key to making any changes desired.

There are many literature available on change work involving beliefs. Or you might find it useful to engage a coach or therapist to journey with you.

Journey Together

Received a happy email this morning from a client. I had mentioned to her previously that she was probably lacking a nutrient. She had a test following the sharing and discovered high level of homocysteine level. This comes from lack of vitamin b complex. High levels are linked to many diseases. She is making changes to her diet and is glad to have discovered it. Start of year has been very positive.

I am happy too that she took the insight given and actively did something about it. We are often called healers by our clients yet we are but catalysts. We act as an instrument, a tool to help our clients on their healing journey. For clients who actively engage in their journey and work together with us; taking into account our insights/ recommendations, their healing is often accelerated.

Every healing journey is unique and different. For some, it could be just healing/ therapy sessions required. For others, insights/ recommendations are received which needs to be done to accelerate the healing. I can share what I receive. Yet I can't force my client to do the suggestions. It is still their choice.

It is journey together. :))

Believing and Living Your New Reality

Recently, I was re-reading The Divine Matrix by Gregg Braden and this paragraph is a good reminder for us:

"There's a fine and delicate balance between simply choosing a new possibility and actually following through with the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that awaken that outcome as a new reality."

So be it visualising a new change for yourself, a better outcome or a healthier you, do stay in the vibration of that change. As you do healing for yourself or for your loved one, focus on the new outcome. And not on the problem or how sick he or she may be.

For example, about a month ago, I was working on a critically ill client who was in coma and had multiple organ failure. The sessions were done via distance healing. I had been briefed that his transplanted kidney was no longer functioning. However during the healing sessions, I felt that there's still hope and so I worked on it in spite of what was shared. I also focused on the outcome of him regaining consciousness and being stronger day by day regardless of what's told to me. I kept focusing on the reality we desired.

A couple of sessions later, was told that his kidney is functioning once more as well as his other organs. He also regained consciousness. Today, just a few weeks later, he is healing well and he could eat his first bowl of porridge. As his wife says, amazing recovery from 'dead state'!

This example reaffirms the importance for us to focus on the outcome desired so that it becomes the reality.

Birthday present

A client turned friend decided that she would get her mum a distance healing session as a birthday gift besides giving her the usual red packet. To her, the gift of the session is meaningful and beneficial as it will help to maintain the well-being of her mum. Since my sessions include both physical as well as mental and emotional well-being, it is enhanced wellness on all levels. Wonderful way to kickstart another birthyear! And with distance healing, it is so very convenient because the client can continue with his or her activities without having to see me so no disruption to schedule or the need to travel to a venue. And it also means that the client can be anywhere in Singapore or in the world. This is why clients often purchase such sessions as gifts for their loved ones. It is certainly a lovely gift to receive, isn't it? :)

Doing QT for my loved ones

"I would like to use QT to help/ heal my loved ones."

This is one of the most often cited reasons given by participants at my QT workshop. It is also one of the reasons why I love it; it is a tool that allows us to change a helpless state into a helpful one. For example, both my grandmothers are getting on in years (my paternal grandma celebrated her 86th birthday while maternal grandma celebrated her 103rd birthday) and have their share of aches/ pains. Instead feeling helpless about it, I do distance healing sessions for them plus visit them.

Yet, given our busy and hectic schedules, many of my participants find it difficult to spend enough time QTing all their loved ones. As a result, instead of a joyous experience, they often share that they feel bad not spending enough time working on their family.

I too faced the same issue initially because there were too many family members that I felt would benefit from QT. Then at the start of this year, I decided that I will work on two or three family members over a period of time and then move on to another two or three family members. My formula is a 15 mins daily distance healing session over 40 days (continuously) for each person. A wise mentor shared with me about the benefits of a 40 days' period, it is the completion of a cycle so I implemented it as such.

It is a discipline following through with the 40 days' period. On days when my schedule is packed, it takes effort to sit, be still and do the sessions. Yet, in spite of my fatigue, I know I will feel this joyous burst of energy each time. And at the end of the sessions, I am recharged. While the sessions are an anonymous gift to my family, I've realised that they are also a gift to me. For when we do the healing sessions for others, we are also healing ourselves in the process. As such, I am stronger and better for it.

If you find yourself stretched for time, you can choose to work on one family member once a week or 5 mins a day over a week etc. Choose a time frame that is comfortable for you. It does not matter if you can only spend 15 mins on your family member. That 15 mins is precious and he/ she is better for it than not having it.

Above all, enJOY the process!

A helping hand

At my what-feels-like-a-different lifetime, there were many people who lent a helping hand for me to get back on my feet. Some were friends. Others were complete strangers who shared wise insights and pointed me towards a direction of light. So in my confused and painful state of existence, I received information, signposts and support to move towards bliss.

This affirms my belief that we can all lend a helping hand regardless of where we may be at in any given point and space of time. We can be of significance even before we are significant. At times, effort is needed for us to be that hand. Over the space of a couple of days, I've met two persons who inspire me with their abundant hearts.

My friend A made the effort to get in touch with a colleague who resigned because she's suffering from depression. She does not really know this colleague but felt she could be of help. Beyond just a "hi-how are you-bye" phone call, A made the effort to visit the colleague at her home and accompanied her for a treatment session. Love-ly, isn't it?

The second abundant gesture happened to me. Yesterday morning, I received an sms from a complete stranger. In it, the person helped publicise my upcoming Mandarin Quantum-Touch workshop in May. I called to thank him/ her and had a nice chat with K. She's learnt QT previously and during the workshop, her fellow participants mentioned that their family/ friends would be interested in learning QT if there's one in Mandarin. She came across my blog and saw that I'll be conducting a Mandarin one in May and hence, smsed the info to her group. She made the effort to (1) remember and (2) to make the connection.

In life, we are presented with many oportunities to be a beacon of light and love to someone in distress or needing direction. May we make the effort, like A & K did, to be that beacon and experience the joy and bliss that comes with it.

Feel a difference this year

If you are looking to further enhance your physical, emotional or mental well-being, learning Quantum-Touch equips you with a useful tool that you can use immediately after the workshop. Here's some insights from past participants:

Kenneth Lim, Principal Success Catalyst of Life-Trends.com
Bernadette has been an extremely engaging trainer throughout the QT session, who manages break this complicated and seemingly intimidating field into something easy to grasp. Her stories were truly inspiring as they drove us to re-think our paradigms with the powerful principles like ‘Energy follows intention’ and ‘Breathe, breathe, breathe!’which she emphasized and reinforced since day one. The QT workshop also gave us a unique way of understanding how we function as facilitators of healing and that our highest positive intention drives the process. The workshop has been filled with fun, laughter, joy, and sometimes tears as there were moments that touched the depths of our hearts, and if not, our soul. An excellent program with impressive and professional trainer! Please keep up the great work!

Andrea Viders, Hong Kong
I attended Bernadette's Quantum Touch workshop on the recommendation of friends. They told me that it was a very powerful energy modality and that they were able to use it immediately to heal people. As I personally discovered in Bernadette's 2-day workshop, QT is all that, but it's also fun and easy to learn. Bernadette is an experienced trainer. She combines just the right amount of theory with hands-on learning and she's affable and warm so everyone learns and enjoys. Bernadette includes Chakra balancing and healing in her workshop, which is especially interesting and helpful. After only one workshop I've been able to use QT for all kinds of healing and self-improvement. I highly recommend it!

Fiona K Hogan, Singapore
Hi Bernadette

How time flies…. It’s been just over a full year since I attended your Quantum Touch certification course in January 2009. But I wanted to share my experiences with Quantum-Touch (QT) in the months that came after.

When I first started out, it was hard to incorporate QT in my daily life. It took lots of practice to keep the breathing right, and my family were (still are) are quite skeptical. So I ended up using QT for my work life almost exclusively.

It was on and off, for a long time. They say it takes 14 days to form a habit but only if it’s 14 days straight! I worked at it and finally got into the habit of QTing before I went in to work.

As I do the overnight shift most often, I QTed for loads of calls to help me meet my work targets. I also QTed for good calls, so I wouldn’t get so stressed out (I work in a call centre). After a while, I realised this was exactly what I was getting. I would be pretty busy, but I wouldn’t FEEL busy. The calls would come in quickly, and end quickly, with no real problem customers or issues emerging. It was great! This continued for about 3-4 months.

Then in September 2009, for various reasons, I was motivated to produce a less-busy shift. Now I QTed for a good shift, and an easy one at that. It took a while, too, for me to realise that woohoo! It was working! It’s been good and easy shifts for the last 4 months or so and now if I don’tQT before my shift starts, I feel uneasy. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s my imagination…. But I also have to share that on my off days, my colleagues seem
busier. So I can only suspect that when I QT for a good and easy shift, the energy flows and encompasses my colleagues on that day too. Interesting thought, yes?

By the way, for those that are statistically inclined, the busier shifts saw me taking about 35 to 45 calls on average, per shift. Now, when I QT for an easier shift, I do an average of 20 – 30 calls only. It’s a significant shift volume-wise.

I just wanted to let you know that QT seems to have worked in a small but very significant way for me. The QT website shares loads of examples on life-changing health or emotional issues. But the small things matter too. Perhaps your other QT graduates may find this an useful example?

All the best!

~~~
You can also read the QT website for more healing stories.
For those of you looking to feel a difference this new year, join us for my next workshop on the weekend of 20/ 21 March 2010. Give me a call at 92729476 or email me at bernadettecsy@gmail.com if you would like more details or to register for the workshop.
Christmas Gifts for brand new 2010!
Ideal and meaningful christmas gifts
For those of you still shopping for christmas presents for your loved ones, how about pampering them with a recharging and relaxing QT session? It'll be 60 mins of pure bliss and enJOYment.
For those who enJOY unique gifts, how about a Chakra Scan and Enhancement session? This comes in two parts; in the first, I will scan your chakras (energy centres) and provide insights on on what's working well and the areas for enhancement for greater alignment, balance and happiness. I will then enhance the chakras that are balanced and provide therapeutic work on those that need improvements. Clients have found these sessions to be beneficial, enabling positive changes to their lives. The scan will take about 90 mins while the enhancement will be 40 mins of pampering.
Drop me an email or contact me if you would to purchase a session for your loved ones (I will mail you the gift cards).
Start your 2010 with a brand new difference
I will be holding a live Basic Quantum-Touch workshop next weekend on 19/ 20 December.
If you are interested in learning this very useful tool, give me a call.
Never Assume
Last evening, a client googled chat me and shared that she has passed on my contacts to a friend. It was nice of her to do so and I appreciate her gesture. More importantly, I appreciated the fact that she did not assume that her friend would not be interested in a healing modality. She just shared what she knows so that her friend can check out for herself, my blog as well as get in touch with me to find out more.
Never ASSUME because it makes an ass out of you and me.
Heard that at a training session once and I love it. Because we think we know best, we assume we know what's best for another. As such, we often make choices for them by not passing on information because we decide that they would not be interested. For example, I often meet friends of friends who are very interested in what I do because it could be of help to them. They then shared that they wish they knew of my services earlier so that it could have saved them a lot of pain and headache.
Well, they would have known of my services earlier and benefitted from them if those friends of mine have decided to pass on the information that I email out each month instead of pressing the "delete" button. :)
QT. Anytime. Anywhere.
I was at my grandma's birthday gathering last evening. Now that my cousin and his wifey both learnt QT, we had something in common to talk about. And it sure came in handy over dinner. My uncle-in-law was down with flu, so I QTed him. My uncle was in one of his "moods" so my cousin QTed him. As for my cousin-in-law, her old wound was hurting, so she QTed herself. Then I QTed my grandma (the radiant birthday girl) cos' she was upset about my uncle going into one of his moods.
QT is indeed a handy skill and tool, isn't it?
12 Colours and Positive Goodness
I love the 12 colours meditation and since I've learnt it, I've incorporated it into my QT sessions for my clients as well as for myself. I especially love using it when I'm doing distance. The energy flow is always strong.
My sis is currently in Spain while my "adopted" sis (best friend of my sis) is in London and the two brave girls are galloping on the road less travelled to realise their dreams. Since their trip, I've been periodically sending them distance but recently, they emailed me specifically asking me to send them energy which is fantastic cos' they used to be skeptical!!!
So I've made an effort to send them distance every day and when I was deep in the sessions, could feel it in my bones that good stuff was going to happen for them shortly.
Just received their emails. My sis has gotten a job offer (almost there, just details to be sorted out) while my "adopted" sis secured a job interview for next Tuesday.
Wonderful, isn't it?
Healing Friendship
I planned to kickstart the lovely weekend by meeting up with my friends S and J for drinks at House last evening. Then, I started having the runs about an hour before J was due to pick me up. Hmmm... strange cos' I didn't have anything out of the norm for my meals. I started to QT myself.
Tummy was still churning slightly and so we decided to skip House and just chill out at S's home instead. While chatting with J in the car (and QTing myself at the same time!) I shared that there must be a reason why I'm having an upset tummy.
By the end of the evening, the reason was apparent. Because we decided to chill in, we enjoyed our usual quality conversations plus we had the opportunity to have an impromptu healing circle. We took turns to work on each other and it was absolutely lovely! It turned out that we all needed this session. S was having a bad sore throat while J was flighting the remnants of a flu.
Wonderful isn't it?
QT for everyday living
Sometimes people have the misconception that when one learns a healing modality, it's to be used for the big stuff and illnesses. But that's a pity!!! You can use it for everyday living, to make life even better!!!
Take for example my experience over the past few days. I'm right now holidaying in Hong Kong and loving every minute of it. Thanks to QT, feeling unwell doesn't stop me from having fun. When I suffered from hangover after a night out, I did QT on myself and felt well enough to go out shopping and sightseeing. When a headache strikes due to the weather, I start my sweeping breaths and feel better. Last evening while out on a boat trip, I felt nauseous and suffered tummy cramps. Not wanting to break the interesting conversation with my friends, I just discretely place a hand on my tummy, breathe and continued the conversation. Heehee, was well enough to enjoy the sumptuous and yummy seafood dinner 30 minutes later.
I also love using the supercharge techniques to enjoy a great night sleep (12 colours meditation), positive future pacing for events or activities (reality creating), and for my general well being (rejuvenation).
If you have learnt QT, use it in your everyday living and not "wait" for a "more deserving" time. More importantly, use it for yourself as well. Often, we are happy to spend time doing sessions for our friends or clients. "Me" is often neglected. Well, you are deserving of pampering and indulgence. This is something that I have to "discipline" myself to do as well, to consciously QT myself. And that's why I've incorporated it into my everyday living.
Tools are only useful when they are used to enhance life. Otherwise, they are just rusty tools.
Back Aches Week
I posted this on dream catalyst . Just realised that this would be good here too. :P
This week, all my clients for Quantum-Touch are all suffering from back ache. Interesting. I did sessions for two clients last night. As per the norm, I followed up to check how they are feeling today (and also to remind them to drink lots of PLAIN water).
One replied that "he felt better, not as painful for back, no more problem with ankle and neck has less strain". In fact, I'll be doing another session for him next week and also to QT his mother-in-law at the same time.
The other replied "I must say I wake up this morning not feeling any pain. This is real amazing." He's going to monitor it for the next few days. Keeping fingers crossed that he does not need further sessions.
I know, it's silly from a "business" point of view. But I absolutely LOVE IT when my clients are well after the first session! :)
Everybody and Anybody Can Learn QT
I just assisted my friend Yvonne at her recent workshop held on the 5/6 May. There were about 20 participants and they range in age and they come from all walks of life.
That's one of things that I love about Quantum-Touch. Anyone and everyone can learn. By the end of the first day, the "newbies" have already provided treatment to each other and for some, their ailments simply go away.
I am in love with Quantum-Touch as a healing modality because it is simple in execution yet rich in its application. Newbies or "experienced" practitioners are all able to treat people. The only difference is that experienced practitioners like myself would have had more practices, more stories to tell and more advanced techniques cos' we've read more literature on it or attended the additional courses. But everyone possess the ability to facilitate in the healing process. It's a matter of harnessing that ability.
Take the example of this guy (am omitting his name in case he is publicity shy) who decided to distance a friend who suffers from trigger finger. Distance means that the client need not be physically present. You can "put" the client in the palm of your hand and do your quantum-touch breathing. Guess what? The next day he called her and the pain was gone. Amazing isn't it?
Of course skeptics will have loads of explanations to "logicise" it away. I actually love skeptics if they are truly one. Cos' skeptics will test out stuff before discarding or believing in them. Being an ex skeptic myself where QT is concerned, I know exactly the feeling that one gets when you go "wow, that just didn't happen". And the inner true voice goes, "yes, it did. You saw it for yourself."
Her next class will be held on the weekend of 2/3 June at Cana, Waterloo Street. Join us and test it out for yourself. Be a true skeptic.
Testimonial: Skeptic Turned Believer
I love skeptics, the real ones. A real skeptic is one who will test it out before tossing it out or turn believer. I was skeptical about Quantum-Touch but like a true blue skpetic, I decided to find out more about it before I dismiss it as mabo jumbo. And voila, here I am, a certified therapist providing sessions to more often than not, skeptics. LOL.
I was blessed to have many friends to work on when I needed to clock in hours. One of the skeptics is my dear friend Fiona or Fi. I've been sharing with her about QT for a while. Finally, had the chance to do a session for her when she came down with the flu.
From a skeptic, she's now a
believer.
